Uni-Verse

Hello and welcome to my new blog, The Universe According to Stardragon. It is my intent to post here an ongoing discussion/investigation of not just *my life* but the Universe generally, specifically, variably, comprehensively - considering the fact that it will be from my own strange perspective. Or should I say, perspectives? Part of my journey of discovery over the past couple years has been the revelation of self-variability - the reality that the nature of truth is to be variable, not only between self and other but within the self, as systems within systems differ from one another in order to create the beautifully complex universe we thrive in.

A note on my name, for the curious. One day at about the age of 12 or 13, at Barnes & Nobles, a dragon came to me in a book, in a painting by John Howe, called "Dragon of Chaos".

In fact, unlike all other paintings in the book, it had no accompanying description... only the vastness of a great nebula, the void space of which comprised the body of a dragon so HUGE that its body seemed to span the distance across several stars... a concept so breathtaking that it never left me. Not long after, I decided to give it a name of my own... I was getting into Dungeons & Dragons at the time, and in the edition with which I worked, all dragons were given Latin species names, beginning with Draco. The region understood as the dominion of the stars was in this game referred to as the "Astreal Plane", as I recall, and so I decided its name should be Draco astreus. Within a year or two I decided this name was so cool that I would take it myself, and in years to come I finally got some of my friends to call me by it. More recently than Draco Astreus, I have developed the name "Dov Ahstreaz", a variant based on the ancient language of the dragons, known most commonly through the Elder Scrolls game "Skyrim". Also bounding around the interwebs you may find the name "Draconisaurus" - a simple dinosaurian variant of mine on the original Latin name. Beyond all this, it happened that one year Bob Eggleton - a famous dragon painter - co-produced a book known as "The Stardragons", a sequel to the famous "Dragonhenge", which has given me crucial insight into the meaning of my name - meaning unbeknownst to me when I first received the inspiration from beyond. Check it out if you have a mind to.

As a brief preview, I will explain the manner in which I divide up the universe. All comprehensive systems of understanding require an upper set of divisions by which to categorize information. Put simply, by my own currently evolving system, ALL THINGS may to described under one of the following:
  • Time
  • Divinity
  • Analysis
  • Expression
  • Worlds
  • Values
  • Elements
  • Creatures
  • Shadows
Each of these, in turn, may be divided into subsets, and then these divided further still. My final system of arrangment is still under heavy construction, and part of the function of this blog is in fact to "write it out" - to get the system running and making mistakes and successes in order that I might see what works and what doesn't, and thus refine it until I may be fully confident in the value of its truth. (Presumably, the step after this is to compile a book out of the "true" material and have it published.) So far it's working well...

So what is all this for, anyway? I'm not writing this blog for the mere entertainment of myself or others... (Or am I?) I am writing it to forward a number of functional ends. If when you think of "mysticism", you imagine vague descriptions and systems ment to keep you from ever actually reaching consistent knowledge of the way things are or keep you from even being able to disprove them, then I will tell you right off that this is not a domain for such focus. If however you consider "mysticism" to be a general description for approaching the nature of the universe beyond what modern Science may tell, I would agree that this blog will contain many such discussions. I perfer the term "esoterica", as it connotates a range of information both vague and definite, of consequence physically, mentally, and emotionally. While Science may restrict its view to established means of testing and academically-supported conclusions, I set out into the multiverse with the broader perspective of finding and establishing patterns without any need of basis in or agreement with others' expressed perspectives, as if I were starting from scratch and with all the freedom that entails... though I reserve the right to borrow such perspectives and even support them when I find it true to do so.

Over the course of this blog, hopefully, the mess of inspiration and pattern assembly filling my head will be made approachable by others, and with a more unified arrangment for myself. There's so MUCH info cluttering my head on these subjects right now that it's almost despairing to think of having to arrange it all in a single system. Yet this is what must be done if I'm to have any hope of writing it into a book or maintaining a consistent worldview. I should note, critically, that the purpose here is not merely for metaphysical interest, but ultimately metaphysical *practice*, beyond the usual psychological self-help boundaries and into actual manipulation of patterns and materials across time and space. I don't know exactly how far this particular blog will come but you might as well assume that its topics include that of divine ascention. Furthermore, I welcome and ask for any questions, praise, or critiques that you might have! Let us begin.

Eternity

Stardragon awoke, opened his eyes and saw. All around him lay the Infinite Cave, in all directions shadow he beheld. Beneath him cold stone, upon bare rock he sat.
Uncoiling from rest, lifting his head and spreading his wings, he rose into the empty space. In darkness he wandered long, alone he searched the cave, and found Nothing. As on he flew, scales off his body fell, embers there drifted in empty space, found then walls and there became stars. Stardragon's search drew on, his unending quest continued, and passing by drew he the stars into shapes as pictures on the walls of stone.

Lonely he became, to tears brought him his solitude, drowning he in sorrow, on and on. Wet made these the floor of stone, with waters of sorrow swelled the Infinite Cave, rising to form the Waters of Chaos. In midst of all he sat, on a promontory of rock he laid, losing himself in himself. He began to choke, the pain of solitude too great, until with blood his jaw was filled, until to his mouth there came a fragment of his heart. Spat there upon the rock, resting in his pool of blood, the broken heart lay before him. Gazing down upon it, searching for a meaning, a song cried Stardragon, the Song of Longing. Out of his eyes poured his blood, onto the heart came tears of red.

In sorrow was he, in agony then came, to rage he was brought in the depths of his pain. Of fire he breathed, roasted he the heart, burnt to ash was the half of his own. Now ended of tears, now empty of song, droped he his head onto the stone, closed his eyes and waited alone. Then as the heart smouldered out, as the last ember left its coals, the form of a raven rose up from the ash, from the black remains flew a bird on high. In dust she swirled, in soot she arced, landing in grace on the crown of his head. Unwatching was he, as one lost at sea, lost in full within himself. Peering down from above, looking deep in his eyes, cried the raven, "Wake up!"

Opening then his eyes, then raising his brow, saw he her down-turned face. Confused and uncertain looked Stardragon at her, then at where the heart had been, and then he understood. Lifting his head, asked he then, "Who are you?" To him she replied, "I am the darkness to your light, and your light in the darkness. I am the tears of your joy and your sorrow. I am your darkest doubt and your brightest hope. I am Shadewing, the Dark Godess. You are mine and I am yours." Stardragon then wept once more.
